Easy Pizza – via Rob, via tan73

We were at my sister’s place last weekend and Rob, my brother-in-law, said he had found a great, and easy pizza dough.  I made some the following night and was quite happy with the result.  So, in the spirit of sharing here it is.

You’ll need:

  • Big bowl
  • Wooden spoon
  • Rolling Pin
  • Pizza dish – optional
  • glad wrap
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 8g dry yeast
  • 1 tsp caster sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tblsp olive oil
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • Pizza toppings

Method:

  • combine dry ingreadients in bowl
  • make a well in the centre of dry ingredients and add oil and water
  • mix into a soft dough
  • gently knead on a lightly floured board
  • return to the bowl and cover with glad wrap
  • leave in a warm spot for 30-60 minutes or until doubled in size
  • once risen, punch once to remove bubbles
  • remove from bowl and knead lightly for 1 minute
  • split the dough in 2 and roll the dough into a circle
  • place dough on dish, add toppings, and cook in a 200degC oven until it looks cooked [about 15mins]

If you are keen, pizza often cooks much better at a higher heat and cooked directly on the rack in the oven.  You can also use a pizza stone which will produce a beautiful result.

    Thanks Dave. I’ll try this pizza dough recipe and let you know how I go! This might sound a little outlandish but apple slices and fetta cheese actually make a great pizza combination. Try it along with a regular tomato base, a little bit of mozzarella some halved kalamata olives and lashings of good olive oil. Delicious!
